Let’s take a closer look at Wimbledon 2023 predictions: Day One features Djokovic, Rublev, Sinner, Pegula, Swiatek and Williams competing.
Wimbledon 2023 Predictions
Wimbledon 2023 predictions include tennis matches to be played in the Centre Court. If you’re interested in betting, here are your betting options and some common mistakes made when gambling on tennis. We strongly urge people not to place bets which exceed what they can afford to lose, nor ask players for reconsiderations after placing bets – gambling should be enjoyable and add stakes into the betting game! matchstat.com is one of the premier head to head analysis sites, providing up-to-date predictions for upcoming matches.
Centre Court
Novak Djokovic (2) vs Pedro Cachin
Djokovic will open this year’s tournament at Centre Court against world number 67 Pedro Cachin. Although Djokovic hasn’t competed since his victory at Roland Garros, he typically adapts quickly from high-bouncing clay courts to smooth grass surfaces; though this might take him some time. Cachin should present no problems whatsoever for 23-time major winner Djokovic. Matchstat.com uses an advanced machine learning algorithm for soccer and tennis that gives the best predictions possible.
Prediction – Djokovic to win in 3 sets
Venus Williams vs Elina Svitolina
At the opening match of this tournament, five-time Wimbledon singles champ Venus Williams will take on former world number 3 Elina Svitolina. Svitolina had an excellent comeback run at Roland Garros, making the quarter-finals, Home – The Championships, Wimbledon – Official Site by IBM while Venus made her return years after Camila Giorgi won three close sets – it could go either way but I predict that American will come out on top!
Prediction – Williams to win in 3 sets
Jannik Sinner (8) vs Juan Manuel Cerundolo
Jannik Sinner will close centre court on the opening day of Wimbledon with his match against Juan Manuel Cerundolo from Argentina, as he opens with an opening round win in a previous tournament against him. Sinner made it all the way to quarter finals last time out while Cerundolo will make his Wimbledon debut – surely an experience in itself if playing Centre Court! Moreover, with no grass court experience behind them and all seven challenger titles having come on clay surfaces prior to playing there; losing to an experienced Italian should prove no-combat or victory is certain should he or she becomes healthy enough. If you need to predict soccer or tennis games, matchstat.com has you covered!
Prediction – Sinner to win in 3 sets
Court 1
Iga Swiatek (1) vs Lin Zhu
World number one player Agnieszka Swiatek will begin her Wimbledon tournament on the 1st court and face China’s Lin Zhu in her opening match. Swiatek reached the semi-finals at Bad Homburg but had to drop out due to illness; Zhu was just short of qualifying as a seed this year – should Swiatek not fully recover, she may take full advantage of being underseeded; however, given Swiatek’s history of performing at her best under pressure, I foresee one way traffic here – one-way flow here versus Lin Zhu from China vs Swiatek vs Lin Zhu.
Prediction – Swiatek to win in 2 sets
Casper Ruud (4) vs Laurent Lokoli
Ruud is one of four French Open finalists and prefers grass as his surface of choice, which was proven last year at All England Club when he made it all the way to Round Two. I expect him to prevail here but expect it will be difficult as Laurent Lokoli earned three straight matches to earn himself a place at this year’s tournament – though ultimately I expect Ruud to prevail against Lokoli and win this game if necessary! Matchstat.com offers detailed stats on individual players, leagues and teams; especially relevant when analyzing head-to-head competition between soccer players or tennis teams.
Prediction – Ruud to win in 4 sets
Coco Gauff (7) vs Sofia Kenin
Coco Gauff and Sofia Kenin will meet for a fierce battle on court 1 in an all-American affair that will surely draw the eye. 15-year-old Coco made history at this year’s Australian Open by making it through four rounds in 2019. Since then, she’s reached the final of major singles events and reached an all-time WTA ranking high of fourth. Kenin, on the other hand, has seen her career progress in an opposite way. After Kenin’s incredible 2020 campaign that saw her claim her maiden major title and reach Roland Garros final for the first time ever, she’s struggled for matches since. Since then she’s fallen out of the top 100 rankings; but this week saw some improvement when she took three games to be eligible for Roland Garros this year; perhaps this marks an opportunity to bring Kenin back and remind everyone why Gauff is considered one of the leading candidates to claim this year’s crown.
Prediction – Gauff to win in 3 sets
Matches to watch
Day 1 at Wimbledon 2023 offered some fantastic matches on other courts that you can watch, which we will recap here in more detail later. Here are more Wimbledon 2023 forecasts:
Donna Vekic (20) vs Shuai Zhang
Vekic, an experienced grass-court player, will face a stiff challenge against former Wimbledon quarterfinalist Shuai Zhang in their opening-round clash.
Prediction – Vekic to win in 2 sets
Veronika Kudermetova (12) vs Kaia Kanepi
Recently, she reached the final of Rosmalen Open on grass court where she will face veteran two-time Wimbledon quarter-finalist Kaia Kanepi aged 38 years and 38 days.
Stan Wawrinka vs Emil Ruusuvuori
Three-time major champion Stan “The Man” Wawrinka returns for Wimbledon and will face Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland. Ruusuvuori made an impressive showing against Jannik Sinner at’s-Hertogenbosch but Wawrinka has the game and power to demolish Ruusuvuori – we expect this encounter between both rookies and veterans to last all the way until its conclusion!
Prediction – Wawrinka to win in 5 sets
Jordan Thompson vs Brandon Nakashima
Nakashima advanced to the fourth round in his previous tournament but fell short against Nick Kyrgios in five sets. Now he will meet another Australian in Jordan Thompson who excels on grass. It should prove an extremely difficult contest between these two.
Prediction – Thompson to win in 4 sets
